HAZARD – A Perry County man indicted on charges that he and three others kidnapped and raped a male juvenile in Hazard has entered a guilty plea.

Brett Combs, 19, of Hazard, could serve a 15 year sentence following his plea made during an appearance in Perry Circuit Court on Thursday. Combs was indicted in April 2009 on charges that he and three other men – Ora Walker, Phillip Riddle, and Jared Fields – held the juvenile at knifepoint and sexually abused him on more than one occasion.

The case against Fields went to trial in November of last year. He was found guilty and sentenced to serve 30 years in prison. The other two men, Walker and Riddle, are currently awaiting trial.

Brett Combs, who testified during the Fields trial, pled guilty to one count of kidnapping for 15 years to serve, two counts of first-degree sodomy for 15 years on each count, one count of first-degree rape for 15 years, three counts of first-degree sexual abuse for five years on each count, and five counts of unlawful transaction with a minor for a total of 10 years. Each of the sentences are to run concurrently, or at the same time, according to the plea deal, for a total of 15 years to serve. He will also be required to register as a sex offender and complete a sex offender treatment program.

Combs is set to appear in court again for formal sentencing on April 29.
