Appalachian Arts Alliance promotes Appalachian Folk Nights

Next week, the Hindman Settlement School and the Appalachian Arts Alliance will hold their second evening of Appalachian Folk Nights, a monthly dinner and “old-timey” square dance intended to connect community members with their Appalachian heritage. Community members are encouraged and invited to attend the event and enjoy traditional Appalachian food, craft demonstrations and a beginner friendly square dance. Dances are taught step by step with no experience needed. The event, said organizers, is family friendly and all ages are welcome. The first event was held on June 23. The next Appalachian Folk Night is scheduled to be held at 6:30 p.m. on July 21 at the ArtStation courtyard. Following the July 21 Appalachian Folk Nights there will be two more in the following months, one on Aug. 18 and another on Sept. 22.
