Each year during the holiday season, Cash Express on Daniel Boone Parkway holds their annual coat and toy drive for the children of Perry County. This year, the business celebrates their 15th year of the tradition. During the drive, drop boxes are set up at different businesses in Hazard and Perry County, said Manager Glenda Hollins. The company, she said, is working closely with the school resource centers to make sure that students in need have a good Christmas. Acceptable donation items include toys, coats, washable shoes, clothing and non-perishable food items. In addition to taking up donated items, company employees have scheduled dates to have bake sales to benefit the children. During their first day of having the bake sale, Hollins said she sold $250 worth of homemade candy. There will be bake sales on Nov. 15, Nov. 29 and Dec. 13. Donations must be received by the company by Dec. 15 in order to have them delivered in time for Christmas. For more information, or the list of drop box locations, stop by the Cash Express store.
