A Hazard woman was recently sentenced for bribery of public servants committed earlier this year.
In October, Heather Sebastian, 32, of Hazard, was arrested and charged with bribery of a public servant (two counts).
According to the indictment, in May, Sebastian offered Deputy Jailer Matthew Hicks and Deputy Jailer William Hawks money to introduce dangerous contraband to Joseph Thomas, an inmate lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
On Nov. 21, Sebastian entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to serve five years probated for five years under supervision. This sentencing, Commonwealth’s Attorney Scott Blair said, will include the time she has already served, and will run concurrently with each other and with another case in which Sebastian is involved.
