HHS Entrepreneur Team competes at Morehead, takes first again

On Feb. 4, the Hazard High School Entrepreneur Team competed in the KVEC/Morehead Entrepreneur Challenge, “Building Entrepreneurial Capacity for the Future,” held on the Morehead University Campus, winning first place for the second year in a row. The team’s business, Bulldog Metal Refinery and Pottery Works, was created to provide additional funds for the art department by crafting unique garden items, said HHS teacher Helen Williams. “Because of the support of our school administration and teachers, the Kentucky Valley Education Authority, Morehead State University, the Kentucky Arts Council and local artists, we have the equipment, supplies and knowledge to produce our products,” said Williams. The Bulldog Metal Refinery and Pottery Works, Williams said, will have plant hangers, plant markers, trellis and unique garden pots for sale this spring and summer. Team members include Sarah Jo Campbell, Kassidy Jones, Mason Couch, Pandora Reynolds, Emily Vires, Kyler Baker and Lacy Davidson. Faculty leaders are Helen Williams and Joanna Thompson.
