HPD officers honored by city

During Monday night’s Hazard City Commission meeting, several members of the Hazard Police Department were honored for their work in Hazard. Two officers were honored for saving lives, including saving a man as he was attempting suicide by jumping from a bridge and another officer administered live saving CPR. Three officers had investigated and executed a search on what turned out to be the largest drug bust in the City of Hazard, which resulted in $60,000 worth of drugs being taken off of the streets in one day. Chef Minor Allen was honored for negotiating a safe end to a hostage situation. Those honored include: Chief Minor Allen — Meritorious Service, Assistant Chief James Whitaker — Lifesaving Award, Captain Zach Miller — Meritorious Service, LT Jessica Cornett — Achievement Award, Lt John Holbrook — Achievement Award, Sgt Steve Everidge — Meritorious Service and Patrolman Jake Eversole — Lifesaving Award.
