Local businesses give a taste of Black Gold

Although the Black Gold Festival was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, two local businesses did not let that stop Perry County residents from having the opportunity to enjoy Black Gold-themed foods. On Sept. 18, Shenanigans, located on Main Street, offered taco salad, chicken on a stick and funnel cakes. On Sept. 18 and Sept. 19, Rudy's Bakery also began offering foods commonly found at the Black Gold during their Fall Food Festival. Some of their menu items included funnel cakes, deep fried Oreos, candy apples, pumpkin bread, nachos, chicken on a stick, hand-dipped corn dogs and chicken salad. Representatives of both businesses said the Black Gold is an important part of the community and they wanted to offer people a taste of it this year.
