Recently, former members of the Hazard National Guard Unit gathered and spent time together. Bobby Brown, one of the veterans in attendance, said if you totaled the years of service the group gave to this country, it would be over 300 years. The group, said Brown, consisted of veterans that have seen service in Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, Ecuador and many hours and days in Kentucky disasters. Several members of the group served as police officers in Hazard and Kentucky Highway Patrol in their full time jobs, said Brown. “We are all proud to have served the Commonwealth of Kentucky and The United States of America,” Brown said.
