Ada Brashear

Ada Brashear, 101, of Hazard, died Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Hazard ARH.

She was born September 20, 1919, the daughter of the late Arthur Singleton and the late Polly Ann Campbell Singleton. She was a member of Wabacco Pentecostal Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Brashear; six sisters, Eva Lee, Hazel, Peggy, Ethel, Irene and Mary; two brothers, Burt and Glenn.

She is survived by two sons, Danny Brashear (Sarah) of Viper, Don Brashear (Ruth) of Happy; four grandchildren; Donna Ratliff (Robert), Robin Brashear, Rebecca Brashear and Deana Brashear; two great grandchildren, Caitlyn Sokoll, Benjamin Ratliff; one great-great granddaughter, Claire Sokoll; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 17, at the Callie Farler Cemetery, Viper. Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Wabacco Pentecostal Church.

Aaron Campbell

Aaron Sydney “Bubby” Campbell, 27, of Hazard, died Monday, December 7, 2020, at his residence.

He was born in Hazard, December 30, 1992, the son of the late Sydney Carol Combs Campbell and Aaron Campbell. He was a 2011 graduate of Hazard High School, a well-known past lineman for the Hazard High School Football team, was well liked and respected everyone he met.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, John Sydney and Carolyn Combs; paternal grandparents, Pleas and Mary Campbell.

In addition to his father, he is survived by one daughter, Kiearra Campbell; three sisters, Misty Campbell, Christy Campbell, Chasity Combs (Ricardo Allen); a large loving host of family and friends.

A private service was held. Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

David Dixon

David Dixon, 81, of Manchester, formerly of Hazard, died Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Hazard ARH.

He was born in Hazard, August 31, 1939, the son of the late Dennis B. Dixon and the late Alice Begley Dixon. He worked many years as a carpenter, and was also a member of the Wabacco Pentecostal Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Hays Dixon; one brother, Larry Dixon; one grandson, Jordan Tyler Dixon.

He is survived by three daughters, Lisa Adams (Clayton Couch) of McKee, Linda Root (John) of Manchester, Debbie Dixon of Manchester; one son, David Dixon (Melissa) of Hazard; two sisters, Kathryn Dixon Tussey (Stephen) of Berea, Dianne Logan (Alan) of Nich; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Jessica, Justin, Kenton, Tanner, Morgyn and Allen Michael; five great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Connor, Aubrey, Marron and Levi; and a loving host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A private family graveside service was held with Bubby Turner officiating at the Resthaven Cemetery, Jeff.  Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

Ruth Epperson

Ruth Moore Epperson, 80, of Hazard, died Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Hazard ARH.

She was born in Perry County, August 21, 1940, the daughter of the late Clay Moore and the late Rena Rice Moore. He worked as an aide for the Perry County School System for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Epperson; three brothers, Billy Ray Moore, Bobby Dean Moore and Albert Moore; one sister, Inez Busic; and two half-sisters, Juanita and Wanda.

She is survived by one daughter, Tammy Epperson Cole of Richmond; one son, John Epperson (Sheila) of Hazard; six grandchildren, Jessica Mullins (Sam), Laura Cole, Anthony Cole, Kolby Epperson, Will Epperson, Grace Epperson; one great grandchild, Mason Mullins; and a loving host of family and friends.

A private family service was held. Burial followed in the Resthaven Cemetery, Jeff. Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

Eliza Grigsby

Eliza Combs Grigsby, 83, of Rowdy, went to rest peacefully with her savior on Monday, December 14, 2020, at Hazard ARH.

She was born in Ned, September 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Monroe Combs and the late Ibbie Neace Combs. She was a 1956 graduate of M.C. Napier High School, and a member of the Mt. Caramel Church. In 1967 she married her husband Forrest Grigsby and traveled living the military life. For 53 years they were be each other’s side.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Pamela Spicer (Timothy) of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Antha Swessel of Lexington, Emaline Grigsby of Rowdy; one brother, Beacher Combs of Rowdy, two grandchildren, Tanner and Sarah Spicer of Chesapeake, Va.; and a loving host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A private family services was held with Amos Hamblin officiating. Burial followed in the Hayes Cemetery, Rowdy. Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

Stephan Hoskins

Stephan Dwayne “Louie” Hoskins, 56, of Hazard, died Friday, December 11, 2020 at his residence.

He was born June 1, 1964, the son of Taylor and Thelma Hoskins. He was a maintenance supervisor for Hazard ARH, a member of Couchtown Church of Christ and also a member of the Hazard Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. Over the last 30 years Coach Hoskins loved working and coaching with all ages. He coached basketball at Willard Elementary, Chavies Elementary, Jackson City High School and most recently at Buckhorn High School. He also coached the Cameron Hoskins All-Stars. He was a 1982 M.C. Napier graduate.

He was preceded in death by one son, Cameron Taylor Hoskins.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Stephan Corey Hoskins (Polly) of Chavies, Connor Clark Hoskins of Chavies; three brothers, Rodney Wayne Thompson (Debby) of London, Ronald Thompson (Sheree) of Chavies and Shannon Hoskins (Asheley) of Bulan; one sister, Pamela Thompson Combs (Fred) of Midway; companion, Heather Haley; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A drive through was held Tuesday, December 15 at the Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the Cameron Taylor Hoskins Scholarship Foundation.

She was the daughter of the late Gentry and Betty Caudill Mullins.
