Deborah Davis

Deborah Lynn Davis, 65, of Hazard, died Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

She was born in Goody, August 14, 1955, the daughter of the late David Jones and the late Ada Hannah Jones. She was a retired clerk for ARH Medical Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Jones and Sharon Jones Hager.

She is survived by one son, Rodney Davis (Jimmi Lynn) of Hazard; one step daughter, Eva Davis Miller; two sisters, Shirley Jones Morgan (Donnie) of London, Phylliss Jones Baker of Ga.; eight grandchildren, Shasta, Ryder, Erika, Jake, Jayca, Olivia, Elijah and Lily; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 5 at Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel. Burial followed in the Combs Family Cemetery, Lotts Creek. Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

Donald Dials

Donald “Don” Dials, 83, of Viper, died Monday, June 28, 2021, at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center.

He was born October 25, 1937, the son of the late Conn Dials and the late Rebecca Watson Dials. He was a retired field mechanic for KY WV Gas Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Dials; and three brothers, Randall, Edgar and Conn Dials Jr.

He is survived by one daughter, Donna Maggard (Rick); one sister, Mary Lou Scalf; one brother, Gene Dials (Rita); two grandchildren, Lacey Osborne (Chris) and Austin Strong (Makenzie); two great grandchildren, Landry, Rhett and Baby Rylee on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 2 at Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel with James Combs, Billy Adkins and Jack Maggard officiating. Burial followed in the Deaton Maggard Cemetery, Big Branch. Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center.

Edward Holland

Edward “Junior” Holland, 74, of Busy, died Monday, June 28, 2021, at Hazard Medical Center.

He was born February 26, 1947, the son of the late Edward Holland Sr. and the late Polly Combs Holland. He was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church for 41 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, classic cars and his dog Turbo, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil, Cullen and Estill Holland; two sisters, Nancy Holland and Myrtle Gregory.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Holland; three daughters, Christina Fox (Daniel) of Busy, Melinda Beavan (Bobby) of Busy, Susie Combs (Robbie) of Busy; one son, David Weaver (Sissy) of Georgetown; one sister, Maxine Holland (Gurney) of Hazard; one brother, Sherman Holland of Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at Holland & Terry Cemetery, Busy. Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

Kenny Ott

Kenny Darrell Ott, 76, of Whitesburg, died Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Letcher Manor.

He was born in Whitesburg, May 29, 1945 the son of the late Henry Ott and the late Ivole Blair Ott. He was a Decorated United States Army Vietnam Veteran and was retired from NASA after 20 plus years of faithful and dedicated service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Ott; one niece, Tracy Ott.

He is survived by his wife, Ada Ott of Whitesburg; two sons, Jeffrey Lee Ott (Andrea) of Cal., Brandon Allen Ott of Whitesburg; daughter, Jennifer; one brother, Chuck Dowdy of Whitesburg; two sisters, Sherry Lynn Caldwell (Tommy) of Virginia Beach, Va., Diana Ott of Gainesville, Fla.; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

No services will be held at this time. Arrangements were under the direction of Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard.

Eva Riley

Eva Carol {McIntosh} Riley, 73, of Hamilton, died Wednesday, June 30, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. 
She was born June 6, 1948 in Hazard, the daughter of the late Martha {Holland} and Albert McIntosh.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Squire, brothers Booster, Taylor, and Herbie and sister Ann. Eva married John Squire Riley in 1969. He passed away on March 24, 2021. She enjoyed shopping, listening to Elvis Presley, spending time with her dog Bella, and cooking.
She will be deeply missed by her four children, Tina (Jay) Foister, Greg (Jackie) Riley, Michelle Riley, and Amanda (Brian) Teates; eight grandkids Kerina, Chase, Dryden, Contessa, Evander, Kyle, Corey, and Caitlin; two great grandkids, Denali and Paisley; two sisters Gail (Donnie) Fraley, Betty (Bobby) Mullins and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 6 at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home, Hamilton, Oh. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Burial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Rose Hill Funeral Home of Hamilton, Oh.

Diane Sexton, 70, of Hazard, died Saturday, July 3, 2021, at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center.

She was born August 12, 1950, she was a lifetime member of Wabaco Pentecostal Church, she loving spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Dwight Sexton; two daughters, Kelly Fugate (Ben) of Hazard, Melanie Day (Kenton) of Hazard; five grandchildren, Kloe, Tyson, Lakelyne, Raedyn and Harper; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 7 at Wabaco Pentecostal Church of God with Rev. Buddy Tuner officiating. Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery, Hazard. Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.
