Brenda Lee Adams, 71 of Viper, died Friday, May 31, 2019, at Hazard Health & Rehad.

She was born in Hazard, November 4, 1947, the daughter of the late Wiley Adams and the late Lona Adams.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in the by three sisters, Betty Newsome, Judy Adams, and May Lou Ashley; one brother-in-law, Darrell Newsome; one niece, Becky Reed; one nephew, Jason Simpson.

She is survived by three brothers, Roger Adams (Lucille) of Cornettsville, Jesse Adams (Lodis) of Morriston, Tenn., Jerry Adams (Phyllis) of Harlan; two sisters, Dobora Caudill (Doyle) of Viper, Ruth Ann Hundley of Lexington; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A Celebrations of Life will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Upper Middlefork Church of Christ with Wesley Halcomb officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard.

Hargis Vance Couch, 53, of Hazard, died Saturday, June 1, 2019, at his residence.

He was born July 19, 1965, the son of the late Hargis Couch and the late Joyce Ann Begley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Vanda Wagers.

He is survived by two daughters, Siller “S.J.” Couch of Lexington, Abigail Couch Payton of Lexington; one sister, Scarlett Maggard of Hazard; six grandchildren, Elijah, Bella, Noah, Jonah, Ava and Micah; special friend, Jeremy Woolum; two special nieces, Tonya Gail Wagers and Britney Hall; special nephew, Tyler Eldridge; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Couch Cemetery, Busy.  Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

Corsie “Johnnie” Hibbard, 95, of Slemp, died Monday, June 3, 2019, at her residence.

She was born May 25, 1924, the daughter of the late Jasper Halcomb and the late Cora Halcomb.  She was the oldest member of the Little Leatherwood Old Regular Baptist Church.  She was a retired cook for the Perry County Schools.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Arlie Hibbard; four brothers; and seven sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Sue (Raleigh) Williams of Cumberland, Joan (Danny) Huff of Slemp; two sons, Oscar Hibbard of Cumberland, Danny (Deb) Hibbard of Amburgey; two sisters, Evalee Bowling of Sassafras, Mary Ann (Roger) Creech of Slemp; one brother, Jasper (Linda) Halcomb of Delphia; five grandchildren, Lisa (Andy) Walters, John (Lori) Thompson, Shawn (Michelle) Williams, Chasity (Todd) McIntyre and Dalton Hibbard; seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at the Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel with Danny Dixon and Scott Halcomb officiating.  Burial will follow in the Arch Halcomb Cemetery, Little Leatherwood.  Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

Robert Moore Jr., 79, of Grapevine, died Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center.

He was born in Hazard, October 6, 1939, the son of the late Robert J. Moore and the late Zola Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Moore.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Margie Combs Moore of Grapevine; three sons, Larry Moore (Robin) of Frankfort, Robert James Moore (Loretta) of Clay City, David Earl Moore (Latricia) of Grapevine; four daughters, Louise Snapp-Webb of Ga., Lisa Moore Davidson (Danny) of Hazard, Linda Lou Abner (Culley) of Buckhorn, Sherry Howard of Hazard; brother, Ernest Moore (Donna) of Hazard; four sisters, Etta Mae Moore Smith of Hazard, Linda Moore White (Donnie) of Hazard, Janice Messer of Lothair, Charlene Moore Boggs (Kenneth) of Hazard; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Lyndon Barger officiating.  Burial followed in the Combs Cemetery, Lower Second Creek.  Arrangements were under the direction of Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard.

Faye Bush Mullins, 83 of Chavies, died Friday, May 31, 2019, at her residence.

She was born in Barwick, August 14, 1935, the daughter of the late Price Bush and the late Mae Bush.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Dan Bush, Jr., Charlie Bush and Jacie Bush; sister, Pauline Bush.  She was a member of the Keneva Church of God and enjoyed working in her flowers.

She is survived by two daughters, Freida Griffith of Chavies, Paula Maggard (James) of Krypton; son Taylor Smith, Jr. (Becky) of Pigeon Roost; two brothers, Donnie Ray Bush (Kathy) of Barwick, Paul Ed Bush (Deloris) of Gays Creek; special daughter, Terry Griffith; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Sister Carolyn Sue Stacy officiating.  Burial followed in the Bush & Stidham Cemetery, Barwick.  Arrangements were under the direction of Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard.

Jacob Reid

Jacob Allen Reid, 23, of Versailles, died Thursday, May 30, 2019, in Versailles.

He was born in Lexington, January 5, 1996, the son of Jackie Cornett and Randall Reid.  He was a Perry County Central High School graduate of the 2014 class, employed by the Versailles Brewing Company and was known for always lending a helping hand to those who needed it most.  In his spare time he enjoyed cooking, playing video and board games, and spending time with his friends and family, especially with his son Jackson.

He is preceded in death by one grandfather, Carl Reid; and one great-grandfather, Jerry Cornett.

He is survived by his mother, Jackie Cornett (Bo) of Bonnyman; father, Randall Ray Reid of Richmond; wife, Lauren Ashley “Roberts” Reid of Versailles; one son, Jackson Montgomery Reid of Versailles; one sister, Brooke Haynes; one brother, Chandler Reid; maternal grandmother, Teresa Tressler (Don) of Frankfort; paternal grandmother, Amanda Reid of Mich.; one great grandmother, Dorothy Cornett; one uncle, Larry Blackburn (Katie); special family, Caroline Miller and Edna Duff Morris; and a host of family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service was held 1-3 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel.  Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.

In lieu of flowers, family request donation be made to the KY River Regional Animal Shelter.

William “Bill” Sexton, 66, of Hazard, died Friday, May 31, 2019, at his residence.

He was born November 4, 1952, the son of the late Roscoe Sexton and Ethel Marie Stamper Sexton.  He was owner and operator of B&D Printing.  He loved to spend his free time fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Hamblin; paternal grandparents, John and Mary Sexton; and maternal grandparents, Monroe and Emma Stamper.

He is survived by one son, Todd Lee Sexton (Vicky); two sisters, Mary Lois Sexton Cornett (Donald), Shelia Ann Sexton Caudill (Lige); one brother, Roscoe Sexton Jr. (Zora); brother-in-law, Donny Hamblin; eight grandchildren, Kaylynn, Zachary, Gage, Rebel, Todd Jr., Angel, Chloy and Anna; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 12 p.m., Monday, June 3, at the Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel with Rev. Jack Carter officiating.  Burial followed in the Combs Cemetery, Upper Second Creek.  Arrangements were under the direction of Maggard’s Mtn. View Chapel of Hazard.
