A Perry County grand jury returned several indictments recently, charging six people with eight counts of felony crimes and four counts of misdemeanors related to theft and drug possession charges that were committed in April. 

Austin Gayheart, 24, of Hazard, was indicted on felony charges of receiving stolen property worth $10,000 or more, first degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), tampering with physical evidence, second-degree burglary and being a persistent felony offender. Gayheart was also indicted on the misdemeanors of fraudulent use of a credit card within six months after it was reported lost/stolen, under the amount of $500.00 and having drug paraphernalia. 

Attorney General Andy Beshear’s Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse announced recently the indictment of two Hazard caregivers on abuse charges.

John Hundley, 42, and Penny Caudill, 43, both of Hazard, were indicted by a Perry County grand jury Friday, May 18, and have each been charged with one count of knowingly abusing or neglecting an adult, a Class C felony, according to a statement from Beshear’s office.
