Toughness.

Guts.

Grit.

Determination.

Hazard displayed all of those qualities Saturday in the Bulldogs’ 2-1 win over Corbin in the Semi-State 7.

In the bottom of the 10th, Trajon Campbell stepped to the plate with the winning run on.

Campbell pulled a hamstring in the 14th Region semifinals.

How did he respond?

With a walk-off RBI single helping the Bulldogs advance to the Final 8 of the Whitaker Bank/KHSAA State Baseball Tournament.

“He (Campbell) had went to the doctor and we had an option of playing him, but we decided to DH him,” Meehan said. “It was a difficult decision. It was an offense for defense decision and it turned out to be a lucky strategy for us. These guys have been there and we believed in Trajon (Campbell) and he delivered in a pressure situation.”
