Hazard blows past Wolfe County in All ‘A’

Hazard’s Dalton Baker makes the play down the first base line Tuesday evening against Wolfe County in the opening round of the 14th Region All “A” Classic. The Bulldogs picked up a 16-0 win over Wolfe to advance to the second round.

The Hazard Bulldogs picked up the win on the road against Wolfe County, defeating the Wolves 16-0 in three innings.

The Bulldogs started off hot by taking a 7-0 lead in the top of the first.

Hazard brought out James Shoptaw to pitch. He secured three straight outs to close out the first.

Hazard’s Bailey Blair tripled. Shoptaw followed with an RBI double to score Blair. 

Hazard’s Zane Deaton came in as a courtesy runner and face planted after rounding third after a double from Garrett Miller, but Deaton managed to make it home for another Bulldogs run.

Wolfe County was able to get a runner on base in the bottom of the second but it wasn’t enough and the Bulldogs ended the second ahead 9-0.

The Bulldogs took the third to score seven more times to put them up 16-0.

Shoptaw shut down Wolves and kept them from scoring, securing the win for Hazard.
