The 14th Region All “A” Classic kicked off this week in both boys’ and girls’ action. The Hazard Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs began play on the road against June Buchanan.

The Bulldogs came into the 14th Region All “A” Tournament on a four game winning streak and a 5-2 record against 14th Region opponents. The Crusaders came into the night on a five game losing streak and looking to turn things around at the expense of the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs played a strong game, shooting 52.7 percent (29 of 55) from the field and 33.3 percent (three of nine) from the three-point line. The Bulldogs also shot 75 percent (nine of 12) from the foul line and hit the backboards hard by grabbing 37 rebounds. This all contributed to a 70-50 win for the Bulldogs.
Logan Hall and Mason Collins led the attack for the Bulldogs. Hall had a big night with a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Collins helped out by scoring 14 points and grabbing six rebounds.
With the win, Hazard advanced to take on Buckhorn in the 14th Region All “A” Classic at Hazard. The game ended too late to be included in this edition of the Hazard Herald.

The Lady Bulldogs came into the 14th Region All “A” Classic winning only two games of their last five played. The Lady Crusaders came in on a six-game losing streak. However just like the boys, the Lady Crusaders were looking to make a nasty losing streak go away at the expense of a team from Hazard.
The defense for the Lady Bulldogs is what is to be noted in this game as they held the Lady Crusaders to 20.5 percent (eight of 39) shooting from the field, 35.7 percent (five of 14) from the three-point line and only allowed 23 rebounds.
The Lady Bulldogs played stellar defense and was able to pick up the 65 to 31 win over the Lady Crusaders.
With the win, Hazard advanced to take on Buckhorn in 14th Region All “A” Classic at Hazard last night. The game ended too late to be included in this week’s edition of the Hazard Herald.
